B-52 BOMBSITE USED IN ModelS F & G - Excellent Condition - EXTREMELY COLLECTABLE

Description

This is an actual B-52 bombsite removed from an "F" model B-52. It is in very nice condition. The bombsite was located in the bombadier's position in the B-52 and was the heart of the B-52's typical mission. The B-52 has been in service with the USAF since 1955, serving as a major deterrent to nuclear war. As of June 2019, there were 58 B-52s in active service, 18 in reserve, and approximately 12 more in long term storage.  The B-52 flew under the Strategic Air Command (SAC) until it was disestablished in 1992 and its aircraft absorbed into the Air Combat Command; in 2010, all B-52 Stratofortresses were transferred from the ACC to the newly created Air Force Global Strike Command. Superior performance at high subsonic speeds and relatively low operating costs have kept them in service despite the advent of later, more advanced strategic bombers, including the Mach 2+ B-58 Hustler, the variable-geometry B-1 Lancer, and the stealth B-2 Spirit. The B-52 completed sixty years of continuous service with its original operator in 2015. After being upgraded between 2013 and 2015, the last airplanes are expected to serve into the 2050s. Owning a part from an actual B-52 is akin to owning a part of one of the most important bombers ever flown in the USAF.  This is a large, heavy, and somewhat fragile item - so shipping will involve building a strong protective, padded, plywood case. This item will have to be shipped by truck.
